This piece is inspired by a video of ducklings leaping into the water for the first time. Some jump immediately, others are nervous - anxiety builds as Mom and siblings leave a smaller and smaller number on land. Afraid to leap but yearning to enter the water, I thought these fearful ones must be the mustering the most courage - to leap despite the fear. I love the cuteness and joy of moments like this, but also wanted to celebrate the bravery of leaping into the unknown to experience something even better.
